GLL is currently recruiting for a Senior Library Assistant (Administration) to join the team at Lincoln Central Library, working 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8am to 12noon). Lincoln is our busiest library giving access to a wide variety of collections and resources including books, a range of technology, a library shop and several rooms and spaces for hire.
The post holder will support the Lincoln Central Library management team by taking responsibility for banking, the purchasing of equipment and materials for the site, the day-to-day operations of room hire, and related invoicing, statistical collation and other administrative tasks as allocated. The post holder will also support the ordering and distribution of library shop stock across the Service and if required deliver frontline library services to customers.

Experience working within libraries (desirable)

Excellent IT skills and a good knowledge of IT packages such as Microsoft Office

What you’ll do:
Work as part of the team to ensure the smooth operation of the library
Use financial systems to raise purchase orders, receipt invoices to suppliers and raise invoices as needed to users of Library facilities (i.e. Room hire fees)
Oversee the day to day running of room hire, dealing with customer enquiries and bookings in person and online.
Undertake cash handling, financial transactions and banking duties
Undertake the ordering and distribution of shop stock to sites across the county
Provide other administrative support as required
Provide frontline cover if required, providing a warm welcome and genuine goodbye to all customers, providing guidance and support on how to get the optimum results from their visit by truly engaging with customers to understand the reason behind their visit
Follow Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults’ policy and procedures
Follow all Normal and Emergency Operating Procedures as well as adhering to relevant polices and manuals
Support customers with all queries available at the library
Fully participate in and engage in the any training provided
