Working in Libraries you will play a key role in delivering a wide range of well-loved services, welcoming and engaging with visitors of all ages and making a positive impact on people’s lives.
Our libraries are central to the communities they serve. Our services include extensive book stocks, public PC’s, children’s areas, quiet study, online resources and a full activities programme to suit all ages from children’s story times and craft sessions to coffee mornings, reading groups and senior IT classes.
There are a variety of Library roles, from front line assistants to senior managers, and a clear career path for progression, so whether you are starting out in your first job or looking to change careers, there will be a role for you. Experience of working in a library is not essential as we will provide the training to enable you to develop the skills required and to achieve excellent performance in your chosen role.
"No day is ever the same and I'm always meeting new people as well as our regulars. From organising rhyme times for the little ones to knit and knatter for our more senior attendees, I feel privileged that I work in such a vibrant atmosphere. Of course, I love books but being able to share my passion and serve others in the community is the icing on the cake.’’- Doreen, Library Assistant
