GLL is looking for a Multi-Skilled Recreation Assistant to join the team at Penrith Leisure Centre. You will be involved in key aspects of the operational services across all areas of the centre including health and wellbeing activities. The Multi-Skilled Recreation Assistant role is responsible to the Duty and Assistant Manager within their facility. As well as the Better Health and Communities Manager.
A Multi-Skilled Recreation Assistant will be the sort of person who thrives in a busy environment and will be un-phased by the variety of the role. This role is varied and could be doing anything from customer service and taking bookings to the provision of leisure-based health and wellbeing activities such as Bowls, Boccia and Pickle Ball. The role will also work closely with centre-based clubs to help support their sustainability and growth.
As a Multi-Skilled Recreation Assistant, you’re given the freedom to plan and deliver your own sessions you’ll be able to explore new avenues as you work with the Better Health and Communities Manager. Your great communication skills will help you build working relationships with our partners as you work together to create long-term delivery plans.
Ideally, you'll be calm under pressure, highly responsible and a natural with people from all walks of life. Flexibility, punctuality and reliability are just as important as integrity, a can-do attitude and a real focus on customer service. Passion and personality will stand you in good stead too!

If you hold any of the following qualifications, great! Otherwise as part of this role you will receive the training and support required to complete the role of a Multi Skilled Recreation Assistant

What you will do:
Work as part of the team to ensure the smooth operation of the facility
Follow all Normal & Emergency Operating Procedures as well as adhering to relevant product manuals
To ensure that all necessary GLL and personal development plans, training (including ongoing CPD) and qualifications for your role and qualifications are maintained and renewed
Fully participate in and engage in the training through centre –based training and on-going assessment on performance
Customer Experience
Provide warm welcome and genuine goodbye to all customers, providing guidance and support on how to get the optimum results from their visit by truly engaging with customers to understand the reason behind their visit
Interact with customers through conversations and sign posting them to the right activities and services that meet their needs
Support customers with all queries ranging across the products available at the facility
Confidently upsell GLL products and services across the estate and match customers to them.
Ensuring the highest possible standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained by carrying out routine and other cleaning tasks when required
Support in the development of Indoor bowls, pickleball, boccia, badminton as well as activity-based classes
Work closely with centre-based clubs, groups and partners to ensure their sustainability and growth
Ensuring sessions are delivered in line with guidelines and taking responsibility for the safety of our participants
Undertaking any necessary administration to the compliance of GLLs policies and procedures
