GLL is looking for 2 part-time Fitness Instructors to work at Gosforth Leisure Centre, Newcastle. 

 

It is essential that applicants are qualified at Level 2 in Fitness Instructing minimum. 

 

It is desirable to have class qualifications including Group Cycle, Body Conditioning, BoxFit, Shallow/Deep Water Workout… etc. Experience in delivering group fitness classes, 1-1 program design and delivery and experience working with both junior and senior groups. 

 

As a Fitness Instructor, part of your role is to maintain the gym areas, monitor and flag up any repairs required, keep all areas clean by being hands on and completing regular cleaning tasks. Being approachable to customers, delivering inductions, creating programmes for them to follow and delivering studio and gym floor classes. 

 

The ideal candidate will have an obvious passion for all things fitness, and this will shine through in all that you do, so that you can make a positive difference to people’s lives. We are looking for a team player, someone willing to help out and learn multiple roles in the centre – in house training will be available for the right person 

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Conduct pre-exercise screening and continuous welfare checks of customers. 

  • Identifying and agreeing smart short- medium- and long-term goals. 

  • Plan and deliver a variety of classes, making appropriate adjustments 

  • Providing 1-2-1 or small group inductions including gym rules, etiquette and use of equipment. 

  • Creating bespoke programmes suitable for each individual taking into account needs and abilities with safety always in mind.  

  • Using logical and progressive teaching methodologies to introduce a range of exercises in relation to customer goals and abilities. 

  • Selecting and correctly demonstrating a variety of training methods that can be used by customers 

  • Providing customers with general advice on how to progress their individual programmes. 

  • Providing assistance to customers at all times in order to correct unsafe techniques where required. 

  • To positively interact and motivate customers using appropriate strategies in order to promote retention and adherence to exercise.
