Transformation Manager – Cardiff – Secondment  

 

This position is a 12-month secondment for internal colleagues only. A competitive reward package, including relocation, is on offer dependent on experience and calibre of colleague successful for the role 

 

GLL is looking for a Transformation Manager to join the local leadership team to drive change and innovation to transform and modernise the leisure service across our 8 leisure centres in Cardiff, whilst ensuring a high-quality leisure service is being delivered. Now entering our seventh year of operation in partnership with Cardiff City Council, we have a 300-strong team that helps to improve the physical, mental and social wellbeing of local communities and residents in Cardiff. 

 

The Transformation Manager in Cardiff will play a pivotal role in transforming the Cardiff partnership into a positive trading position, delivering an exemplary service demonstrating a partnership of excellence in Wales. With strong connections internally and a good understanding of the political and business networks, this role will draw on high level negotiation and a track record in transformation programmes.  Effective communication, collaboration, and influence with internal colleagues, senior stakeholders, partners, and elected members are essential. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a passion for delivering the highest levels of customer service and a talent for building and developing teams for growth. 

 

This key leadership role reports directly into the Head of Service, and will also work closely with the local leadership team and corporate support across the UK. You will have Senior-level experience in the leisure industry as either an experienced General Manager who has previously been involved in project work and / or change management, or Partnership Manager, with a track record of turning strategy into action.  

 

With natural business acumen and a strong leadership ability to motivate, enthuse and inspire, you'll take a lead on modernising the service in Cardiff, implementing change management and new initiatives in order to transform the service and achieve a positive trading position.  

 

You'll provide direction and guidance to the local teams to constantly innovate and progress our service offerings as well as ensuring targets are monitored and met accordingly. Fully aligned with our mission and corporate plan, you'll champion our 'People Vision' and lead by example, empowering local teams to seek learning and development opportunities and achieve high levels of performance. 

 

We're looking for an organised, creative thinking and positive leader who is passionate about our core values. You'll have proven leadership experience of running high volume public-use facilities within community or cultural environments, and experience in delivering transformational change. Project management capability including the full project lifecycle and change management is imperative. 

 

Naturally you'll have excellent communication skills and passion for the leisure / culture / community service sectors. Relevant professional qualifications such as a degree in sport / business or QCF accreditations (levels 5-7), IOSHH and CIMSPA membership or the willingness to work towards them, will be beneficial.
