GLL is looking for a Sustainability Officer to work within the Sustainability Team at its Head Office based in Woolwich, Southeast London as part of the National Standards and Compliance Department. The Sustainability Officer will be a key driver in the delivery of GLL’s Sustainability Strategy action plan and promoting its “Respecting the Planet” Value. The post holder will be primarily responsible for the analysis, monitoring, review and reporting of all elements of GLL’s energy and water consumption as well as carbon emissions and wider strategic Sustainability objectives. Reporting to the National Sustainability Manager, you will use your knowledge to challenge and support the GLL leisure, children centres and library teams to improve efficiencies and drive change.

What you’ll do:
- Manage annual Energy, Water, Carbon and Waste data collection and review process.
- Work with GLL utility suppliers and partners (Inenco / Stark etc) to ensure consistent and accurate energy and water data sets are maintained and utility account issues resolved.
- Focus on regular data analysis and reporting to help achieve GLL’s sustainability goals.
- Visit GLL premises where appropriate to check, challenge and support operational teams with energy & water management.
- Maintain and progress GLL’s metering strategy to move towards 100% coverage of utility meters on-line.
- Establish practicable energy and water reduction measures for GLL premises, and influence changes to improve efficiency.
- Work with GLL Partners and their sustainability teams where necessary to provide relevant carbon and utility data to support their objectives.
- Monitor sustainable and energy efficient practices within Leisure & Cultural buildings
- Manage and review the success of pilot projects, investments and capital projects

What you need:
- Leisure Management Qualification (Desirable)
- Demonstrable knowledge of facility operations across all GLL divisions
- Good understanding of GLL’s environmental aspects, impacts and compliance obligations
- CPD or Qualification in Environmental Management (Desirable)
- Excellent understanding of efficient building operations and maintenance
- 5+ years successful and consistent supervisory or management role in GLL leisure operations.
- Evidence of achieving results and bringing about reductions in energy consumption through leadership and influence
- Flexibility to travel to GLL premises nationwide where applicable.
- Proficient use of various GLL Utility platforms and portals (e.g. STARK / Inenco)
- Experience of Microsoft 365 suite (e.g. Excel, SharePoint)
- The ability to communicate in a highly effective manner to various audiences, providing accurate information in a range of formats suitable for all relevant stakeholders
