GLL is currently recruiting for a part time Senior Library Assistant to join the collections team based on the first floor of Lincoln Central Library. Working 33 hours per week, you will be primarily delivering services to Music, Drama and Reading Groups and Listening Lincs, a talking book postal service for the visually impaired. You will though also be required to cover frontline services at site as required. 

 

With internal and external customers at the heart of everything you do, as a Senior Library Assistant you will help deliver our county wide services, supporting customers to access our collections both physically and digitally, ensuring their unique needs are met through the relationship you build with them, whether in person, by email or telephone.  You will also support customers and colleagues with queries and support needs via our dedicated email accounts and in accessing the inter-library loans services. 

 

Working hours will be 9am to 5pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 9am to 2pm on a Tuesday.   

 

What you need: 

  • Experience working within libraries 

  • Evidence of making a difference to customers 

  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge 

  • Excellent numeracy, literacy and communications skills 

  • Administration skills 

  • Experience of using Library Management systems, would be useful 

  • A real focus on customer service. 

  • Passion and personality 

  • Evidence of being organised and efficient 

  • Customer Service Qualification (desirable) 

  • Be a great team player 

 

What you’ll do: 

 

  • Work as part of the team to ensure the smooth operation of county-wide collections services 

  • Provide a warm and positive experience to all customers, both in person and remotely, providing guidance and supporting their needs. 

  • Follow Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults’ policy and procedures 

  • Follow all Normal and Emergency Operating Procedures as well as adhering to relevant polices and manuals 

  • Support customers with all queries available at the library 

  • Support the delivery of frontline services at site as required. 

  • Fully participate in and engage in the any training provided.
