With community at the heart of everything we do, as an experienced Archivist, you'll have the opportunity to not only maintain and develop our collections, but also deliver a wide variety of activities to attract the very diverse communities in Bromley. Working closely with partner organisations and members of the community, you'll enable people to understand the value of archives and want to contribute their own materials, objects and stories.
What you’ll do:
* Develops partnerships with external organisations related to heritage and local history resources in the Partnership whilst also providing information and advice to community groups and organisations
* Updates and ensures the implementation of policies for archives, records and local history materials; covering accessions, retention, disposal, preservation, conservation, cataloguing (computer database - CALM)
* Keeps abreast of trends and developments within archives, libraries, health and safety, and contracting
* Ensures that the provision of services for archives and local studies meets the statutory requirements as detailed in the Local Government Act 1972, Public Record Act 1958, Data Protection Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000, and any other relevant legislation; ensures that the care and management of archives are in line with the achievable requirements of The National Archives Service Accreditation Standard, including the standards for archival storage in PD5454
* Provides supervised public access to archives, records and local history materials which require a controlled and secure environment and ensures full staff awareness of good handling practice and use of the collections
* Works in liaison with Library Managers to ensure the provision of an effective advisory service, which answers a wide range of enquiries on the partnership's history and its archives.
* Provides an enquiry service for in person and remote enquiries.
* Delivers workshops on local and family history for school and adult groups, including topics relating to the national curriculum and the use of worksheets, programmes, etc., in liaison with library staff and partner organisations.

What you need:
* A postgrad qualification recognised by the Archives & Records Association and have completed or enrolled for the ARA Registration scheme.
* A sound working knowledge of ISAD(G) and ISAAR for accessioning and cataloguing archives.
* Excellent communication skills such as report and presentation writing,
* Inspire and motivate the team around you.
* A natural problem-solver, you'll have the ability to think creatively, exploit new opportunities and be able to meet deadlines.
* Excellent IT skills, be proficient in MS Office and have used computerised management systems such as CALM.
