GLL is looking for a Sector Library Manager to manage libraries located across the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The Sector Libraries Manager is responsible for managing a group of libraries and relevant number of employees. The postholder will also play a leading role in training, human resources issues, developing the Greenwich Libraries’ activities programme for children and adults, and promoting library services. The role will require you to travel around the Borough.
Better libraries are run by GLL, a charitable social enterprise with aims to make community services and facilities accessible and affordable for all. We provide leading ICT facilities, lend books, e-books, audio books, DVDs and CDs and provide a programme of activities appropriate to the needs and interests of the communities that we serve. We aim to widen access and increase the use of libraries as well as providing customer service that is second-to-none.
What you’ll do:
* Oversee the delivery of library services
* Manage selected libraries and services as delegated
* Inspire, train and lead the library teams
* Manage excellent customer service throughout the libraries
* Focus on increasing customer numbers and their experience
* Manage the finances across your libraries/ budget management
* ICT stock supervision and management
* Collate, maintain and apply statistical data for service performance analysis
* Health and Safety and building management
* Safeguarding across your libraries

- Be passionate about libraries, learning and community development
- Time management skills including the ability to plan, prioritise and to work under pressure.
- Ability to manage and work as part of a team
- Financial budget management
- Develop and exploit ICT to aid the provision of services to the public
- Ability to maintain the standards required by the company
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- IT literate and able to use a library management system
- Ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults who use library
- Professional qualifications in librarianship, archives or teaching and management
