GLL is looking for a Project Accountant to join our Financial Accounting and Shared Service finance team at our support office based in the Royal Arsenal Woolwich. As a Project Accountant you will be working on Various ongoing Finance Projects including the development and delivery of suite of new VAT reporting, assisting with year-end responsibilities and helping with the roll out of new Finance system.
You will be the sort of person who thrives in a busy environment and will embrace the variety of the role and have experience working on projects involving systems integrations, working on large data sets and date cleansing
Prior knowledge of VAT reporting is essential ( exposure to Local Authority VAT rules - desirable ) as well as having ability to work effectively either independently or as part of a wider project team.As the UK’s largest public provider of leisure and cultural services, our finance department offers a broad range of services which makes this is an excellent opportunity for any Finance Project Accountant.

What you’ll do:
Work with the Finance Systems and Sales Ledger team to roll out VAT Reporting suites for multiple Partners.
Assist in preparing and submitting VAT returns for multiple Clients under Agency agreement.
Work with the Finance Systems and Sales Ledger team to roll out training and best practice documents to ensure successful adoption of new VAT Reports across the business.
Assist with the Year End Process – including production and review of key account Reconciliations and ensuring supporting back up schedules are completed accurately.
Supporting on the production of information requested by the Auditors, uploading it to the Online portal and updating the tracker – whilst adhering to the timelines and deadlines agreed with the auditors.
Provide cover for Finance Colleagues in the following departments as and when required
Sales Ledger – Debt collection, BACS posting, Weekly Debtor reporting.
Purchase Ledger – PO Report Review, coordinating and compiling responses from centres
Income Protection – Posting Income Journals, Cashflow Reporting.
Assist in the development and testing of GLL’s new Finance System D365 to ensure the solution meets the requirements.
Participate in system testing, report development, integration and deployment activities.
Liasing with internal stake holders. These include representatives from our finance and technology teams.
Work flexibly in line with the needs of the business at peak flow times, evenings and weekends particularly linked to key project milestones.
What you need:
Accountant Qualification or working towards
Ability to multitask and prioritise. *
Able to coordinate discussions between Finance and Non-Finance Stake Holders. *
To simplify and standardise reporting suite. *
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. *
Highly motivated self-starter, who will undertake all activities to the highest professional standards *
Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. *
Attention to detail and willingness to take ownership of the tasks at hand
