We are looking for a friendly, passionate, and enthusiastic team player to join our creative programming team. As Programme Assistant you will deliver a vital role assisting with the delivery of the Hub's busy visual arts public and education programmes and events.

Summary of what you’ll do:

  • Support the delivery of the Hub’s public, education and community visual arts programmes including research, administration, coordination and some hands-on delivery

  • Maintain good comprehensive knowledge of the seasonal  visual arts programme and contribute ideas to help shape the development of new programmes and opportunities through active participation in team meetings

  • Support the research, development and delivery of free, accessible and inclusive creative activities within our main gallery Activity Hub

  • Liaise with artists and facilitators to assist with planning and coordinating workshops and events, ensuring all paperwork is up-to-date including writing risk assessments, agreeing contracts, carrying out DBS checks, gathering information, etc.

  • Respond to all education enquiries, liaising with the Visual Arts Development Manager to organise the logistics and administer bookings and facilitators

  • Help deliver talks and tours of the exhibitions to visiting schools and groups

  • Prepare Hub spaces for workshops and events ensuring the environment is safe, well presented and clean (e.g. set up furniture and equipment) and meet and greet facilitators to ensure the smooth running of activities

  • Administer the ceramics and glass kiln hire process, managing enquiries and coordinating bookings

  • Maintain workshops, storage spaces and the Hub’s inventory of art materials, ensuring they are well-stocked and tidy at all times

  • Complete finance tasks including raising purchase order requests and replenishing stock and materials

  • Assist with monitoring and evaluating the Hub’s visual arts programmes, including monitoring workshop feedback and evaluation to inform future planning, and using spreadsheets and online platforms to monitor and analyse participation and engagement of visitors, participants and artists

  • Encourage participants to complete audience surveys and share their feedback on their experience

  • Work closely with the Visual Arts Development Manager and other colleagues to support the delivery of funded projects and events

  • Work with the marketing team to support social media campaigns with the aim of increasing awareness and attendance across all visual arts programmes and events

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of fire, safety and evacuation procedures and help to facilitate the evacuation of the Hub in the event of an emergency, as directed by duty management

  • Be present and alert during opening hours to ensure the health and safety and comfort of all visitors and participants

  • Under the guidance of the Visual Arts Development Manager, resolve daily routine problems and issues that may hinder or damage a participant’s experience

  • Undertake training and CPD as required in order to meet personal and business needs

  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the role and as requested by the organisation

  • Passion and interest in creative arts
  • Aptitude for multi-tasking and prioritising to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail with good organisation and administrative skills
  • Knowledge of co-ordinating and administering events and/or exhibitions
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft systems in particular Excel.
