Nursery Assistant Cook (Maternity Cover)
Based: Better Community Nursery, (Burnt Oak Leisure Centre) Salary £13.15 per hour
We're looking for a part time Nursery Assistant Cook (approx. 20 hours per week) for Maternity Cover to support in preparing lunch and afternoon tea to babies and children aged 3 months to 5 years at the Better Community Nursery based at Burnt Oak Leisure Centre in Barnet, North West London. The Nursery provides childcare and welfare for children of up to five years of age, so it’s imperative that the facilities and surroundings provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
As Assistant Cook, you’ll help the cook in creating healthy and nutritious balanced meals for children which meet individual dietary requirements, taking into account food allergies, medical conditions, and cultural needs. You’ll also undertake washing up duties and cleaning of the kitchen area to comply with food hygiene regulations, keeping a record of cleaning schedule followed.
You’ll have a Food Hygiene certificate with experience of working in a kitchen as well as knowledge of allergies and dietary requirements. If you have experience of cooking for young children that will stand you in good stead as understanding children’s palates and likes will be key.
