GLL is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to work 18 hours per week at Lincoln Central Library supporting the Library Manager in ensuring the maintenance, repair, security and safety of the building is completed to a high standard.
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will work as part of a team as well as on your own and have a good eye for detail. With an understanding of health and safety regulations, you will ensure the safety and security of staff and customers and the building by implementing or reporting repairs, when necessary, with minimal disruption. You will also provide occasional cover for the frontline library service.
Duties include;
Ensuring the library is maintained to a high standard to include garden courtyard and outside areas.
Carrying out general porterage duties including movement of furniture and equipment within library.
Carrying out the daily/monthly/annual checks required to ensure the safety of the people using the library and keep appropriate records for auditing purposes.
Responding to alarm callouts if required.
Assisting in the safety and security of customers and staff.
What you will need
Previous maintenance or construction industry experience.
A technical qualifications such as building, plumbing, carpentry and/or decorating would be desirable
Able to complete day to day maintenance tasks
Knowledge of how to use tools
Confident IT skills and knowledge
Excellent numeracy, literacy and communications skills
To be a team player
Strong communication skills
A real focus on customer service
Professional conduct in the workplace
A proactive approach and good problem-solving skills.
