Lead Teachers are responsible for leading on the delivery of lessons, and the coordination and supervision of the swimming teaching team on shift. You’ll also be responsible for providing support and guidance to pupils, parents and guardians, as well as ensuring the quality delivery of Swim lessons.

 

The Lead Teacher is responsible to the General Manager for day to day centre operations and the Area Swim School Lead for technical swimming advice.

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Swimming teacher coordination and quality team teaching when on shift. Including the co-ordination of registers, grouping swimmers and managing ratios

  • Mentor, develop and guide your team and any newly qualified teachers

  • To ensure attendance is captured and accurately monitor pupil progression and update pupil progress

  • Effectively plan and lead the delivery of team huddles

  • Ensure Schemes of Work and lessons plans are being followed

  • Report device, equipment and pool issues to duty manager

  • Ability to give developmental and positive feedback to teaching teams

  • Adapt sessions as per the needs of the pupils to ensure every child progresses

  • Evaluate your lessons and provide every pupil with feedback

  • Follow all code of conducts and safeguarding procedures

  • Work with external stakeholders such as STA tutors to ensure the successful delivery of lessons and training courses

  • Attendance at Teacher Meetings and Training as required

  • Act in accordance with, and actively promotes all GLL policies and standards.

  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post’s level of responsibility or required particularly as a result of events outside of GLL’s business control (pandemics etc.).

  • Work flexibly in line with the needs of the business at peak flow times, evenings and weekends.

  • Deliver critical incident management as and when required.

  • Reports to the General Manager for day to day centre operations and the Area Swim Manager for technical swimming advice.

  • To constructively interact with different people in a variety of areas within the operational team and GLL support services, specifically the aquatics team.

  • Builds good working relationships with all GLL colleagues, working both proactively and collaboratively.

  • Builds positive and progressive relationships with local authority partners as required.
