GLL is looking for a Healthwise Coordinator to work across the sport and leisure facilities in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The Healthwise Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Xplore Programme, a Tier 2 Weight Management Service for Children and their Families. The Healthwise Coordinator will act as the main point of contact between referring agents, referral patients and the schemes facilitators.
This is a ‘hands-on’ role for an ambitious results driven professional, a keen interest in working with children and their families, with the ability to coordinate a number of programmes across the London Borough of Hillingdon area.
The Healthwise Coordinator role is responsible to the Regional Health Manager.
What you’ll do:
- Support and work closely with Leisure Centre Managers and centre teams to complement their operation.
- Ensure the service conforms to the National and NICE Guidance for a Tier 2 Weight Management Service for Children and their Families
- Carry out health and lifestyle assessments with parents and develop safe and appropriate programmes of physical activity / exercise.
- Develop and deliver group activity sessions for a range of young people
- To ensure the smooth day-to-day running of Xplore, maximizing effectiveness of all available resources.
- To implement effective strategies to support behaviour change with patients.
- Carry out outreach and engagement with health professionals to raise awareness of Xplore and promote referral pathways.
- Support Xplore in achieving its targets and produce information to enable completion of monitoring reports for relevant agencies.
- Deliver healthy lifestyle sessions in schools and promote the service at school assemblies.
- Provide line management, support and advice for Xplore facilitators.
- Ensure the initiative conforms to the National and NICE Guidance for a Tier 2 Weight Management Service for Children and their Families
- To participate in the recruitment of staff to the Xplore
- Co-ordinate and manage staffing rotas and timetables across all Xplore

What you need:
- A recognised Fitness instructor or Personal training qualification (Level 3)
- Significant experience working with a range of younger people from the age of 4-19
- Experience of managing staff and experience of multi-agency working
- Thorough knowledge of exercise prescription for those with long term medical conditions
- Ability to communicate clearly to a variety of professionals including GP’s, medical specialists, fitness instructors and leisure managers
- Ability to manage train, develop and monitor staff
- High level of organisational skills, good time management and punctuality
- High level of IT skills.
