GLL is looking for a Finance Assistant to join our dynamic finance team at our Head Office based in Woolwich, Southeast London.  As the UK’s largest public provider of leisure and cultural services, our finance department offers a large range of services.  As Finance Assistant, you will be working across the board in our Shared Services Finance Dept. You will need to have excellent customer services skills, as you will be responding to both internal and external enquiries.  The role requires you to have excel skills, knowledge of double entry and have data entry experience. You should be familiar with both Sales and Purchase Ledger related tasks, although training will be provided. Your role may be extended to Income Protection tasks and bank reconciliations. You’ll be the sort of person who thrives in a busy environment and will embrace the variety of the role. Ideally, you will be an all-rounded accounts staff member and possibly working towards AAT.  However, for those candidates who are looking for a study scheme and are keen to develop their skills and knowledge in accounts, it may be possible for GLL to offer an AAT Apprenticeship, after a 3-month qualifying period.  Flexibility, punctuality, and reliability are just as important as integrity, a can-do attitude and a real focus on getting the task done.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Downloading Bank A/c transactions and saving onto the Drive 
  • Processing BACs payments c. 100-200 daily to Customer Accounts 
  • Processing Cheque payments and posting to Customer Accounts 
  • Processing Card payments and posting to Customer Accounts 
  • Processing Payments taken at centre and posting to Customer Accounts 
  • Responding to approximately 20-30 emails each day. 
  • Taking phone calls and dealing with queries and over the phone card payments 
  • Chasing overdue balances on Customer Accounts 
  • Releasing invoiced income to the P&Ls via an upload journal 
  • Assisting the Purchase Ledger Team with input of Purchase Invoices and queries  
  • Assisting the Income Protection Team with bank reconciliation related tasks.
