Community Sports Manager

Based: West View Leisure Centre

 

GLL is looking for a Community Sports Manager based in Preston.

 

The Community Sport Manager role is funded in partnership by Preston City Council and GLL on a 2 year fixed term contract and will be based from West View and Fulwood Leisure Centres. The centres already have an exciting mix of activities for our local communities and established links with community groups and strategic partners.In this role you will help to further increase opportunities for Preston residents to access sport and health benefitting activities by;
 -         Review and improve on existing programs to ensure Preston residents from all demographics have access to programming and facilities that benefit their fitness, health, overall wellbeing and happiness
-         Working with NGBs and strategic partners to provide a program of activity suitable for all ages and abilities

 

*         Proactively leading the Preston Sports Forum

-         Promote and manage applications for Preston Sports Forum (PSF) grants

-         Assess club and individual grant applications against agreed criteria, making reccomendations to PSF board

-         Maintain a network of PSF affiliated clubs and contact information of key personnel

-         Provide Preston clubs with regular updates of useful content to assist with the governance and development of their club

-         Plan and host biannual virtual meetings covering engaging topics, utilising expert speakers where appropriate

-         Work with marketing and GLL Sports Foundation teams to maximise the reach of the GLL Sports Foundation awards alongside the Preston Sports Forum

-         Assist with planning and delivering the Preston Sports Awards, in conjunction with the GLL Sports Awards, Preston City Council and the University of Central Lancashire, Active Lancashire and the Lancashire Sports Awards

 

*         Ensuring West View and Fulwood Leisure Centres meet the needs of local residents

-         Network with strategic partners to enhance GLL’s reputation and explore opportunities for funding and commissioning

-         Being a key point of contact and provide guidance for leaders of local community groups to help drive participation in their activities

 

This is a part time role at 19.5 hours per week. For applicants interested in full time equivalent or additional hours we would welcome applications from anyone with fitness or class instructing, swimming teaching, lifeguarding, operational management or other qualifications and experience that could be utilised within a leisure centre environment.
