GLL is looking for an Centre Swimming School Lead to work at the new Woolwich Waves Centre. The Centre Swimming School Lead Teacher is the link between our customers, swimming teachers and the leisure centre team. You will be responsible for a centres swim school programmes, including school swimming and all other swim school course products.

 

This key role provides technical support to the centre teams to ensure the smooth running of the lessons and high-quality, consistent level of customer service. Your role will bring organisation and structure to the swim schools as you develop a plan to manage the programme, lead and inspire your swimming teachers and grow the income and number of pupils learning to swim. This role offers a real opportunity to affect positive change, get closer to GLL’s National Aquatics Team.

 

You’ll no doubt be an experienced swimming teacher looking for the next stage in your career and be full of ideas of how to make things better. We’ll offer in-house training to support you with your role as well development opportunities such as ‘train the trainer’ and the STA Tutor training programme.

 

This is a rare opportunity to work at GLLs flagship facility set to open this year. The new Woolwich Waves Leisure Centre will be one of the largest flagship centres that GLL has operated. Designed by the Britannia project team and at a cost of over £115m, the new centre will boast:

 

  • Large leisure pool with flumes, toddler pool and a large wet play park

  • 25m, 8-lane fitness pool

  • 20m training pool

  • Spa Experience with health suite and treatment rooms, all adjoining the training pool to give a true health club style spa experience

  • 200-station gym over two floors

  • Four studios – Group Cycle, Elevate, and two fitness studios

  • 6-court sports hall

  • Indoor 5-a-side 3G pitch

  • Two squash courts

  • Café

  • Soft play and party rooms

  • Creche

  • Healthwise suite

  • Meeting room

 

What you need:

  • Be a fully qualified swimming teacher

  • Hold a Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming (STA or Swim England/Swim Wales/Swim Scotland/Swim Ireland).

  • A real focus on customer service.

  • Passion and personality

  • Knowledge of health and safety

  • Be a great team player

  • If you’ve worked with CoursePro, it would be beneficial but not essential.

  • Manage, grow and review diverse Swim school programmes

  • Focus on Pupil progression and attainment

  • Drive income and retention

  • Oversee and impact lesson delivery and quality

  • Manage, Mentor and develop your team of Swimming Teachers

  • Recruitment of new Teachers

  • Deliver first-class customer service

  • Deal with customer queries and complaints

  • Create an positive customer journey

  • Utilise marketing resources to promote products and engage customers and staff

  • Oversee the school swimming programme and pupil attainment

  • Engage In community agendas

  • Support mobilisation and demobilisation as required

  • This is a part time, permanent position. Hours of work will be negotiated with you in line with the needs of the service; flexible working may be possible. Working from home is not possible in this role.
