West View Leisure Centre has seen an increase in membership in recent months and has introduced a number of new and exciting facilities. To support our expanding program and offer the best level of service to our members and customers we are recruiting an additional Better Health Assistant to join our team.

If you are naturally friendly and enthusiastic, thrive on offering great customer service and would enjoy a flexible, multi-skilled  role - where all training is provided and your salary increases as you complete qualifying criteria and technical qualifications - then this could be the role for you.

  • Unique career pathway for anyone who wants a career in the Health and Fitness industry
  • Initially you will be trained in our Concierge and Lifeguard roles, providing the basis of the Better Health Assistant role and a career in leisure
  • Upon successfully passing probation, you will complete your Fitness Instructor qualification and start spending some of your time on the gym floor and in the studio, completing inductions, providing advice and teaching basic classes
  • As you gain more experience and complete further qualifications you will reduce your time lifeguarding and on reception as you develop towards more Specialist Health and Fitness qualifications, Swimming Teaching or Centre Management.

West View Leisure Centre has a 70 station fitness gym, dedicated dance and spin studios, soft play, 3G pitches, 25m pool, steam/sauna and café . The Centre has something for everyone and is an incredibly valuable community asset, accessed by a wide range of local groups, clubs and individuals.

Successful applicants have come from a range of backgrounds. As all training is provided we have team members who come into the role early in their career, others who have already worked in the fitness industry and have some existing qualifications or those who have made a complete career change. You are likely to have qualifications, skills and experience including:

  • 5 GCSE grades A-C / grade 4 and above (or equivalent qualification) including Maths and English
  • Be a confident swimmer able to swim 50 metres in under 50 seconds
  • The confidence and ability to engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • The ability to work as part of a team and lead by example
  • You will be passionate about the benefits of physical activity and want to grow your career in the leisure industry
  • A keen interest in health and fitness and ideally be a regular participant in physical activity or with knowledge or experience in sports coaching / activity sessions

In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK’s largest leisure provider:

  • Pension schemes
  • Ride to work scheme
  • Discounted membership at our leisure centres
  • The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we’re run plus associated social events
  • Career pathway
  • Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
