Project Archivist ( temporary) 36 hours per week, flexible.

Based: Dudley Archives and Local History Centre

 

Dudley Archives and Local History Service, operated by charitable social enterprise GLL, is looking for an Archivist to assist in managing and providing access to its archive and local history collections, which currently date back to 1182.

 

The post is temporary for 12 months initially and is a project focussed on public records.

 

The Dudley Borough has a rich history that we want to make as accessible as possible.  In addition to working on public records, you will have the opportunity to not only maintain and develop our collections, but also deliver a wide variety of activities to include and engage all communities within the Borough. Working closely with partner organisations and members of the community, you will raise understanding in the value of the local archival heritage and enable those who wish to contribute their own materials, objects and stories to do so.

 

You will possess or be working towards a qualification recognised by the Archives & Records Association and be committed to continuing personal development. You will need knowledge of ISAD(G) for the accessioning and cataloguing archives, and have excellent IT skills - being proficient with MS Office and CALM. Your experience will have also given you a broad skill set including: excellent written and verbal communication, confidence in delivering presentations and training, working with deadlines, problem solving and creative thinking to exploit new opportunities, as well as being able to inspire and motivate the team around you.
